The West Central 4‑H Region consists of the Counties of Red Deer, Lacombe, Ponoka, Wetaskiwin, Camrose and the Municipal District of Clearwater.

The West Central Regional 4‑H Council holds a number of events during the year. They are:

Regional Public Speaking

The top two Intermediate and Senior speakers from each of the districts in the region compete in the Regional Competition. A separate competition is held for Intermediates and Seniors. Dates are set annually by Regional Council. Each year a different district hosts the competition.

Regional Presentations

The top two Junior, Intermediate and Senior members from each district in the region compete in the Regional Competition. Dates are set annually by Regional Council and each year a different district hosts the competition.

Regional Junior Winter Camp

Held in late February, or early March, (the second weekend after Family Day), this is a weekend winter camp for 4-H members 9 - 11 years old. The camp is held at the Alberta 4-H Centre, Battle Lake. Senior members who are interested in counselling at camps may apply to be counselors at this program and to assist with planning.

Regional Intermediate Winter Camp

This camp is new in 2020 and will be held the third weekend in January. The weekend camp is for members 12 to 14 years old. The Alberta 4-H Center is the site of this Intermediate member event. Senior members who are interested in helping at camp may apply to be counselor and assist with planning.

4-H Alberta Senior Ski Trip

This ski trip is planned by the 4-H Alberta Alumni club. It is open to senior members from across Alberta. It is held in early March each year. Destination is determined yearly.

Regional Horse Show

This annual event gives members in horse clubs an opportunity to compete against horse club members from across the region in a wide variety of classes. The Horse Show is held in late May / early June at the Red Deer Westerner grounds. The event is planned by the West Central Light Horse Committee. This committee meets throughout the year to plan the show.

Regional Record Book Competition

4-H members keep record books to allow them to keep track of how much it costs to complete their project. There is a regional competition to pick the top record books in each of the project categories. Record books must have been judged at the district level and forwarded by the District Council to this competition.

Multi Species Judging & Consumer Decision Making

A multi species judging and consumer decision making competition is held each year and it is hosted by a different district each year.  The date and location of the event are decided by the host district.

Fun Day

Each year a different district hosts a fun day for 4-H members. The date and activities are up to the local planning committee.

Leader Recognition

This event is hosted by a different district each year to recognize leaders with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 years of leadership. Members who have achieved their Platinum Award of Excellence, will also be recognized. The West Central Regional Council will present the “Friend of 4-H” Award during this celebration event.
